It started off by selling imported two- and three-wheelers in India. Bajaj Auto is based in Pune, Maharashtra, with plants in Akurdi and Chakan, Waluj and Pantnagar in Uttarakhand. The company went in public in 1960 after it got the licence from Government of India in 1959 to manufacture two- and three-wheelers in India.
